Our first artist needs no introduction, but while most will know FINNEAS via his collaborations and connection to sister Billie Eilish, his debut full-length, Optimist, just dropped last Friday, and is packed full of amazing songwriting. “The 90s” is his latest single, and it’s just as good as the decade itself. Do yourself a solid and grab a ticket to see him live. Tour dates are posted on his site.
The latest single from Bogotá, Colombia-born, Los Angeles, California-based Loyal Lobos (aka Andrea Silva) is a track called “Amor Como Puñal,” but for this week’s playlist we’re including a tune she dropped in August called “Hate My Face.” We’ve been steadily impressed by every track Silva has released since her 2020 debut Everlasting, and critics at New York Times, The New Yorker and Rolling Stone all seem to agree.
Katelyn Tarver’s next full-length, Subject to Change, drops November 12, and we’re loving all the singles she’s released in support of the project. We’re including “All Our Friends Are Splitting Up” on this week’s Mood, and make sure to check out Katelyn’s YouTube to see a beautiful live version of the track. More exciting projects from Katelyn are in the works so make sure to stay tuned to this space for the latest!
“Was It Even Real?” is the latest single from a new favorite of ours, LA-based pop singer/songwriter Will Jay. Says Will of the track, “Sometimes I look at photos of myself and I have a hard time feeling like that person is actually me because so much is different now. It’s important to be present and enjoy every moment because it’s already gone.” We’re in love with Will’s falsetto and wide-eyed, blissed out vibe on this track.
We close with a track from LA’s Cash & Skye entitled “No More Candy”—a fitting track for the season. Composed of Henri Cash, guitarist and founding member of LA rock band Starcrawler, and Sophia Skye, daughter of Rilo Kiley bassist Pierre de Reeder, Cash & Skye released their debut single on Jack White’s tastemaking Third Man Records. You can check out the video here.
